You have heard me talk at nauseum about what makes a kettlebell unique.  For me, the number one advantage is it’s versatility.  The Kettlebell Military Press is one of the best examples of this.  By changing the way you hold the bell, you change it’s center of gravity and thus change the way it targets the muscle.  So from one specific lift, the Military Press, we get several different lifts by employing a kettlebell instead of a dumbell or barbell or a machine.  (don’t get me started on machines)  Check out the video below to see what I’m talking about.

In an upcoming post, I will cover in more detail the mechanics of the press, some additional variations and a few secrets that will skyrocket your strength.

Before entering into a fitness routine, especially one that incorporates kettlebells, be sure to consult with your physician or medical professional to be sure you are healthy enough to begin a strength and conditioning regimen.  Be sure to learn the proper way to perform each lift and complete each exercises in strict form employing a spotter when applicable.  In other words, if you hurt yourself, it’s your fault.
