I’m not a big fan of those people who somehow inherited their wealth and go around acting like it was earned by them.  Most of those people couldn’t hold down a job at a fast food restaurant so I guess it’s a good thing that somebody gave them money.  Those who inherited great physical ability and strength however, I admire and even am somewhat envious of.  I am not one of those people, but I’m not complaining.

The good Lord blessed me with average physical abilities as is the case with most people.  Meaning, everything I have achieved in the gym was achieved through hard work and determination.  Nothing I have accomplished came easy or fast. In that way I’m pretty much like everybody else.

I feel pretty confident in saying that when it comes to strength and conditioning, I’m far above the average person even though I don’t believe that I was born with any greater physical potential then the average person.  I have done some things in the gym that has truly amazed me and even amazed some of my friends who shake their heads and say, “I guess you were just born with the right genes”.  WRONG!  What it comes down to is that I just want it more then they do and I’m willing to put in the work to get it.

When I was a junior in high school, I weighted in at a whopping 129 pounds, and I lifted weights everyday at that time.  I now weigh in at 192 at a height of 5′11″.   I’m by no means ripped but I don’t carry a whole lot of fat either.  Every ounce of muscle and strength I possess was earned through working hard and working smart.

This brings me to the point of this post.  I’m not in any way bragging when I say that I feel far above average in my physical abilities.  What I am saying is that anybody who puts their mind to it can achieve great things in and out of the gym.

My motto when training others is that I’m here to help you become extraordinary.  I believe that we all have it in us to become more then we think we can become if we set our minds to it and work hard and work smart.   You can become extraordinary and you can do extraordinary things, even if you were not born gifted.

Not only do I believe that everyone has great potential, I firmly believe that we were put on this earth, not to be average but to be extraordinary.  Results are by no means guaranteed but to not try at all is nothing short of tragic.

I once heard tennis great Andre Agassi say that life is a gift from God.  Doing great things with your life is your gift back to God.  That motto we should all live by in and out of the gym.  It all starts with your decision to become more then you think you can be.

Yours in Health,

Dennis
