Interesting post. I am on a search to form a strength goal, but finding a real-life measurement is elusive. If you can clean and press that much weight one time, are you strong. If you can it 10 times with less weight, doesn't that mean you're stronger or more fit?

Personally, I'm interested in aquiring strength and endurance that can be applied to life, that can ACCOMPLISH WORK.

Most weight lifters look like they are overweight and physically unfit. I am not talking about body builders but that is not a goal I would personally aspire to.
Strength in terms of lifting a heavy weight has nothing to do with health or true fitness.
I would say if you can live to be over 100 you have true physical strength.

Thanks for sharing, I did not know what a super set was before. I've heard the phrase but never really asked anyone. I will try this set you have here on my next exercise. I appreciate the article.

I strongly agree that kettlebell snatches are an INCREDIBLE exercise. Try the secret service snatch test on for size. If you are having issues with a nagging shoulder injury/pain, I have found that high rep cleans are also an incredible conditioner, changing hands every 5-10 reps. Cleans can provide a break to the monotony os swings if snatches aren't a good option.

Hello Dennis - I just discovered your site and love it. You are very smart and an insightful writer. Keep up the good work.

1 quick question in terms of breathing. I been learning how to "belly breath" over the last couple of years. My yoga teacher really stresses the importance of filling the diaphram with air.

This technque seems to be the opposite. I does look interesting and I will try it. Just wanted your thoughts on belly breathing compared to the power breath that you just describecd.

Thanks,
Jack

I just received the book Enter The Kettlebell last week and have been doing the 2 exercises. At first I hated the get up, but was determined that I was gonna love it. Now I want to do it all the time. The swing was another story, loved it right away. Anyway, I had picked up kettlebells 5 years ago for the first time and since I didn't really know what to do with them they sat, not anymore, I love love love them.
